Welsh Premier League Ante post 2007/2008

these odds from Coral

TNS 8/11
Llanelli 11/4
Rhyl 7/2
Bangor 12/1
Welshpool 22/1
Aberystwyth 33/1
Carmarthen 33/1
Newtown 33/1
Port Talbot 33/1
Connah's Quay 50/1
Porthmadog 66/1
Haverfordwest 80/1
Caernarfon 100/1
Llangefni 100/1
Neath 100/1
Airbus UK 150/1
Caersws 150/1
Newi Cefn Druids 150/1

Last year's champions TNS favourite , but I can see Rhyl pushing them even closer this season,Llanelli had a poor spell last season but when on form they are an excellent side. Bangor under new mangement will be a force this season to end up fourth.
The odds show that Connah's Quay surprise season will not continue this time.My side Porthmadog have not strengthened the side and they will be lucky to finish in the top half.

Re: Welsh Premier League Ante post 2007/2008

My opinions for this year are:

i)Top 3 will still be the same three with Rhyl being more consistent.
ii)Both Bangor and Caernarfon will improve their position
iii)Connah's Quay will be poor this season
iv)Carmarthen will not be as good
v)promoted clubs are an unknown quantity ,i think Neath will cope better
vi)relegated clubs will be any 2 from Llangefni , Newtown and Caersws
vii)as a Porthmadog fan i cannot seeus getting any higher than last season.
viii)Both Rhyl and Bangor fans are very optimistic this season

My ante post bet has been Rhyl@6 with bluesq

Good info and thoughts traeth.

You think TNS will get turned over this year then, interesting. Good luck with that Rhyl bet

What history do Neath have? Isnt Neath quite a big town in comparison to many others in the league? Do they get any Swansea youngsters or rejects?
Just wondering. I'm going to be looking out to see how they get on this season, i think they'll do ok too and i'm making them my Welsh team for the season

Re: Welsh Premier League Ante post 2007/2008

Neath is a very strong rugby area , and the club has very little history as they are a recent amalgamation of two clubs ,i believe they were refused promotion the year before last due to the ground not being up to standards "set by UEFA"
Not sure about the player being Swansea youngsters , I think most of the players have experience of WPL with other South Wales clubs
Their first league match is away to my team Porthmadog so I hope to get to see them.

TNS are 1.25 with bluesq which is very poor value.
Rhyl and Llanelli are about the same standard as TNS in my opinion, but TNS have been more consistant than these two in the last couple of seasons . Even though Rhyl were unbeaten at home they had too many draws , that if Rhyl could get more home wins they could push TNS .

Got this as a P.M. ,so i've copied it with my reply

WPL

Doesn't the season run around quickly at times?! It's surely not been long since the finish of last season. It's good to know you'll be back for another one . I have read your comments on the thread, and agree with virtually all, but I think I have a higher ranking of Connah's than you. How come you think they'll drop to lower standards this season? Is there anywhere I can find a definitive list of the transfers this season?

Thanks, Wootty. Good luck for the start

Connah's Quay have lost their manager and top players to Bangor , so my thinking is that Bangor will replace C.Q. as the team for 4/5/6 .
some latest C.Q. news on welsh-premier site here

this site has transfer list here in alphabetical order

In this league I think that the movement of managers between the clubs is the greatest influence on a team's performance.
