Re: CC League 2 Close Season News & Links

Can we include rumours as well?

Kevin Ellison possibly back to Chester could be a v.good move for them.

Peterborough who need to strengthen defensive IMO - In - Keates and Westwood (Walsall - Mid and Def), Charlie Lee (Spurs - Def), Whelpdale (Billericay - Wing)

Brentford - In - Glenn Poole (Grays)

Barnet - In - Thomas (Hemel), Carew (Fisher). Hmmmm.

Anyone know anything about this Motherwell player who's signed for Darlo?

He's ex Celtic i believe Frodo. Scored a few goals from midfield. I think they were suprised to lose him. I'm sure someone could tell you more.

I'm just after links folks. I'll have a nice place for you to keep them soon too

Re: CC League 2 Close Season News & Links

no news as such, but i think Peterboro' and Bradford will be the teams to back for promotion from L2 next year. Peterboro' will buy their way out of the league.

Re: CC League 2 Close Season News & Links

Two bits of news from Saltergate today.

1. OUT- Paul Hall is off to Walsall - good day and goodbye, too old and does not put 100% in
2. IN!!!- Jack Lester - from Forest, a perfect partner for the impressive Jamie Ward and well capable in this league.

Good news for the Spireites today. New found optimism is being created at Saltergate.

Re: CC League 2 Close Season News & Links

anthoney thomas from hemel to barnet frodo?
saw him tear the mighty bromsgrove apart a couple of seasons ago, best player i have seen at southern league level ability wise.only small and slight but kept coming back for more despite getting kicked all over the park.
big step up to dvision 3 but will follow hs progress with interest.

couple of good signngs for peterborough from walsall, especially dean keates, was their player of the year, westwood a good experienced defender at this level who knows how to win promotion, mght be worth putting a few quid on boro imo

Re: CC League 2 Close Season News & Links

Gillingham have just signed Simon King from Barnet for 200k. What's he like, Frodo, have we got ourselves a good player there? Most Gills fans are very surprised we've spent that much, for the last few seasons we've mainly been scraping around looking for freebies, and we're somewhere between 10-12m in debt. Seems though like the chairman's talk about restructuring the debt and the bank supporting us are right though.

Re: CC League 2 Close Season News & Links

Just replied on the L1 thread about King. Surprised we got that much considering his contract was up next season, but he's a quick learner and should prove capable of making the step up to L1. He reads the game superbly, and always knows when to foul a striker. Though he is a good footballing defender.

And yes that is the Anthony Thomas from Hemel. I know from the NLP that he was consistently rated one of the top prospects outside the football league so am keen to see how he gets on. I'll definitely be keen to see if he can cut it at L2. Although he helped me on a few bets last season too so he's already a top buy in book.

There have been more L2 moves but I'll do another update at the end of the month and perhaps stick a few notes to go with them.

Re: CC League 2 Close Season News & Links

I'll do a bit of catching up with the goings on at Edgar Street soon and post up but for now the loss of Tamika Mkandwire comes across as a negative and Steve Guinan has signed permantly which is a positive.
At present i cant see anything higher than a mid table finish for us and the general feeling of a few mates is that GT should consider standing down as manager if we do have a similar season as last.

Re: CC League 2 Close Season News & Links

Quakers bring in Bulls midfielder

Darlington boss Dave Penney has made versatile Hereford United midfielder Rob Purdie his seventh summer signing.
Purdie, 24, has agreed a two-year deal after turning down the chance to extend his stay at Edgar Street.

Purdie made more than 200 appearances for Hereford after joining from Leicester in August, 2002.

Hereford are also set to lose striker Andy Williams to Bristol Rovers but midfielder Sam Gwynne, 19, has signed a new 12-month contract with the Bulls.

Purdie and Williams were two players that we could rely on, with those two gone and the likes of Ferrell and Mkandiwire also gone it's looking worrying, we've got no one in to replace them yet. I hope GT knows what he's doing.
