From Wednesday's Courier - THREE Arbroath players have joined Angus rivals Montrose.

Keeper Mark Peat, centre half Ian Dobbins and left winger Jay Stein will all be playing for the Gable Endies next season.

Montrose manager Jim Weir has also signed centre half Kevin McGowne and striker John Baird from St Mirren. McGowne will also become assistant manager.

I used to play football with Mcgowne as a kid. He stayed a bit away and would sleep 'endos' in bed with me before big games. Mcgowne should be immense at this level still. Looks like a good signing Edin?

Let me see what i have here...bah i dont want to revaeal my sources im afraid although i suppose they could be stolen from whatever way i presentit. 3rd div, East Fife and Montrose splashing the cash, will be interesting to see how they get on. Both have got lots of players on quite high wages (montrose took 3 of our players that we couldn't afford to match the wages).

Arbroath have lost a few, including our keeper (best in the league by quite a way).dunno our chances of winning, but definitely wouldn't make us favourites or near favourites.

East Fife prob deserved fave's, Montrose maybe worth an each way punt at the odds... don't take Arbroath at thos short odds!

oops, just spotted that. no idea who mcgowne is to be honest

I'd imagine he could be quite decent, as Montrose are splashing the cash on big wage players

Kevin Mcgowne has done the job for every team he's been at Edin. Big strong centre of defence man. He can get forward and score goals too. I think he'll be a great signing. He'll be 37 now mind. Shit thats just made me see what a wreck i am. I cant even wipe my arse till the tablets kick in and there's big Kev still playing League football

I better go and try and catch up a bit as ive really let it all go. I'll get the breakfast on and have a read as i go.
