Re: Scottish 1-2-3 Close Season News & Link Dump

QOS will do well and I've taken them on the handicap coupon. I'm an Ayr fan, and they utterly tore us apart 7-1 in pre-season (and we've since gone on to prove that we're not a bad side; beating Gretna and Partick).

David Bingham could be a quality signing to compliment what they've already got down there and if Queens can just sort out their pre-Christmas form, they'll easily be top 5 material.

Cheers Wet Sail. Im with you in that i think QOS will be very hard to beat this season and they look the best bet on the handicap list from all 3 leagues to me. Again though there's nothing really jumping out at me to back an i might wait a few weeks before placing my antepost coupon (but ill sort the handicap one out tomorrow)

anyone else got any last minute seasonal thoughts?

to a good season to us all.

Agree that Queens are a good bet but could struggle for goals should Dobbie get injured. I couldn't ignore Hills' +10 on Dundee. I think they will push on from last season and have a feeling their foreign buys could be good ones.

Re: Scottish 1-2-3 Close Season News & Link Dump

just having a look at the odds now we're a few weeks in.

Div one - Your 8's on Dundee Danq looks pretty good. 7/2 they are now with Stan James. dunfermline 2/1 fav. St Jognstone at 6/1 with skybet. Maybe they could bounce back. they know the task in hand. Dundee are looking favs to me though. St J possibly to get it together in a few weeks and go on a wee run. they will have to pick away from home though.

Raith 5/2 in div Two. I dont think they have what it takes over a season. ross county at 10/3 with betterbet looks a fin alternative although i wouldnt rule out airdrie, Ayr and Brechin still.

East fife at 10/11 bet365 should still give you a run for your money. stranraer second favs? theyre having a laugh aint they? Montrose 33/1 with Victor chandler they dont seem to be offering e/w terms though from what i can see. I suppose they are reliant on Baird's goals and even my pal Mcgowne seems a bit slow in defence. He'll come good though.

Re: Scottish 1-2-3 Close Season News & Link Dump

Division Two is going to be wide open and will be a nightmare betting medium. On paper, Ayr should win it because of the players we've got, and we were immense yesterday. But I'm still not convinced about us, especially in defence, and we could be improved drastically with a couple of tactical changes which Neil Watt doesn't want to make at the moment. If he finally makes those changes, we should start flying, but time will tell.

Ross County are an average side. They beat us on the opening day but that was mainly down to how awful we were. County showed very little to impress me and Dick Campbell is a manager who will quickly fall out with his own fans.

Airdrie will be too inconsitent to make a challenge. I can't believe they were beaten by Berwick the other week, because Berwick looked like a pub team yesterday, so that can't say much for Airdrie.

Brechin have made a very slow start and all told they look worse off than last season. Strange considering their all star strikeforce of Russell and Johnston, which will get its fair share of goals, but the rest of the team doesn't look up to scratch and we should have beaten them up there last week and blew it with four minutes to go. They'll come good and most likely reach the play-offs but I don't see them challenging for the title going by what I saw of them.

For me it will come down to Raith and Ayr. Raith's problem is going to be goals though and that much is obvious by their result yesterday. In contrast, we have Michael Moore banging them in (5 in 4 games) and Ryan Stevenson looking like the best midfield player in the league by a million miles. We clicked yesterday and although it was just one result it was really exciting to see.

Aye Ayr look a solid e/w fancy to me so far. New manager arrived late in the season and he'll have got to know his team and Moore and Hamilton will fit in nice.
I was so wrong in so many levels
