Re: Scottish 1-2-3 Close Season News & Link Dump

Division 2 looks a corker this season. Airdrie, Ayr, Raith, Brechin and Ross County look to be the main contenders and i suppose this would be reflected in the betting. I wonder how much of this Airdrie will get

Just gona catch up a bit on pie and bovril. I have to mention this first as it made me laugh. In someones signature so theyve obviously had a good laugh at the poster too-

Dumbarton have lost keeper Grindlay to Morton

East Stirling got King from Forfar. Also a few ok players from East Fife.

The Shire have a reasonable team now. No one outstanding but solid professionals. I very, very much doubt you'll get anywhere near winning the league but a decent points hall and 7th place could be on the cards
Albion Rovers are slowly getting players. Scott Friel is back and theyve made a couple of ok signings.

perth paper link to keep for the season
icPerthshire - Perthshire Advertiser Sport Headlines

East Fife are still justifiable favs but i still fancy Montrose to be there abouts (Mcgowne played 19 SPL games last season, if he stays injury free (and he's prone to the odd injury) then they wont be conceding much and he'll be a good leader on the park.

Interested in reading more on Stenhousemuir and Stranrarer too.

Re: Scottish 1-2-3 Close Season News & Link Dump

Howdo Danq. Good to see you. I'll have to go start getting in some faces for the new season. I'll just have a quick peruse of whats been happening this week

Kerrigan going to Forfar is a good one for Forfar imo. I was pretty suprised about Montrose letting him go. Maybe he wasnt the player he was when he was at Montrose the last time but in his day he was the creative part of montrose's midfield. Could have a point to prove.

BBC dont seem to know much about Albion Rovers signings
BBC SPORT | Football | Scottish League | Division Three ins and outs

Still when you look at Montrose's signings so far you can't fail to be impressed

Ins: Kevin McGowne, assistant manager/defender (St Mirren); John Baird, forward (St Mirren); Mark Peat, goalkeeper (Arbroath); Ian Dobbins, defender (Arbroath); Jay Stein, midfielder (Arbroath);;

I think i might prefer to have them 5 than all of East Fife's signings. Mcmanus and Nicholas up front for East Fife. Old boys well Nicholas was (didnt he go back last season? must have went on loan) Aye i still prefer Montrose over East Fife. I would say that all them players are well proved to excel at this level and although Mcgowne hasnt played in the 3rd after 19 SPL performances last season he's got to go well.

Nicholas is about 26, McManus is 24, hardly old boys Komp! O'Reilly will probably start up front with McManus. East Fife are certs, a mortgage job.

Re: Scottish 1-2-3 Close Season News & Link Dump

Good to see you again Frank. Still a bit slow in here but i suppose thats what happens. i'm just glad here's here rather than not.

I was meaning East Fife old boys Frank as in 'ex players' Im suprised about Nicholas's age mind. I think im thinking of another Nicholas. Isn't this the big ginger centre forward who went to Stranraer before the tart of last season? Spent most of the season injured then on the bench?

Im away from forums for a week at least Frank and im trying not to succub to them but i had to pop in and see whats happening. Nothing much it seems but the scottish div 3 talk is geting me excited a bit. Looking forward to starting back next week jst as a poster only on tdp. be bes Anyhow im here for too long. im away to finish the job. some bloody holiday this is

Re: Scottish 1-2-3 Close Season News & Link Dump

Heres a breif rundown of Scotts 1,23 ,prices from Ladbrokes, and remember the transfer market is still active
DIV 1 CLYDE 14s new manager Hendry not much transfer action lost a key player in Bryson price looks about right maybe a touch bigger.
DUNFERMLINE 6/4 short price for me in competetive league lost a lot of players close season not many in Harper of note but at the price i would not consider.
DUNDEE 6/1 they interest me a bit Daquin Sives two good signings couple of checz players in to think they could be top 3.
MORTON 12/1 won div 2 comfortabley got 2 old firm players on loan good support and could make the top half.
HAMILTON 10/1 lost a few gained a few nothing exiting think what theve lost outways what theve gained mid table
LIVINGSTON poor season last term can see a improvement couple foreign players in and Hartlepool signing only lost 1 key at moment price 12 /1 Tweed to E Fife top half.
PARTICK 10/1 lots of changes new manager couple Albion boys in big jump in class ? bit hard to asses 45 pts last season should beat that Mcall quite good in the market . best watched imo.
QOS 25/1 lost a few and could struggle lost key man for start of the season injured Thomson also 5 suspended at the start, could struggle.
ST JOHNSTONE 3/1 near miss last season lost a key player in J Scotland a key man most weeks Weatherson steps in good with Q Park on the small side lightweight but pacey should be top half again.
STIRLING 33/1 kept surprising me last season did not think they would go up lost a few brougt in Gribben JP Mcbride of note and ST Mirren forward ? look bottom half .
SUM UP early but i likeDUNDEE LIVI to take on the two hot favs in this league Thistle worth a watch early and MORTON if they had a big start on a handicap poss .post up DIV 2 next

AYR 6/1 like the two signings from Stranraer lost a couple could be up there.
BERWICK12/1 betting them ahead of Cowden Pete Alloa a surprise of not S Gemmil and Bolochowecyj lost a couple bottom 3 .
BRECHIN 6/1 signed 2 of ELGINS best players might do ok not really lost any key men M Johnstone could do well ? top half again.
COWDENBEATH 16/1 big price saw them early last season looked good but the team was broke up Patalinean and Gomis left lost Buchanan to Thistle now started training early will be fit 2 good signings in McConalogue and Oneil rate them above Berwick.
QUEENS P 22/1 saw them a few times last season lost best player and not much transfer action yet try to play footy , struggle current team, young.
RAITH 3/1 started poor last season but finished prob best team at the finish just missed out promo like their signings to top 3 def.
ROSS C 3/1 new manager Campbell relegated hard to way up lost a few could be top 5.
SUM UP RAITH look poss winners Todd Borris Sloan Weir good signings also when Andrews was brought in last season they hardly lost a game. AYR have signed two good forwards score goals COWDENBEATH poss handicap material

ALBION R 25/1 lost two key men Lennon very important finished 6th last season could be worse this term.
ARBROATH 10/3 lost a few Peat Dobbins Stein . in Tosh of note if fit always a threat top half.
DUMBARTON 6/1 lost Borris Winter Boyle Grindley not much in Mcfee of note look mid table on what they have done so far.
E FIFE really like them missed the boat on a good price now 15/8 Lads the players they have brought in look good ,look winners to me.
EAST STIRLING 100/1 not the bottom team this term for me def improvement lost Tweedie a blow but look stronger at the back.
ELGIN 33/1 look bottom team for me at the moment lost all key players Nelson and Johnston of note.
FORFAR 1O/1 interesting two good signings in Ovenstone Fotheringham lost a few but gained as well 6th fav ?
MONTROSE 10/1 Peat Dobbins Stein in like to see a bigger squad beat Thistle 2 0 freindley ? should do a lot better than last season.

great stuff danq thanks. Its so good to read what other people think. You would almost belive that no one else has any thoughts for the new season. Maybe their wives pick their ante post coupons i dunno. Just gonna read up danq but straight away i like the Dundee talk. Has to be between them, Dunfermline (poss) and st J. Nothing else appeals

Re: Scottish 1-2-3 Close Season News & Link Dump

Cheers Danq. Just managed to get a sober read of it Danq and a good read it was too. I can't see how Livi could have improved enough so far Danq to be a main contender in div one but you'll know more than me. I like the sound of your Duundee in a tricky league danq and also it will be interesting to see what Partick are loking like. i was actually quite impressed with McCalls signings and he's no mug that way.

Raith's signings to me look pretty average to me Danq and ive never been a real fan of Ryan Borris. To me they just look like an ok Div 2 team. Interesting that you mention Ayr buying two strikers from stanraer danq as i belive Hamilton is actually a midfielder. He was Straraer's top scorer last season which aint bad for a midfielder. Add him to Ayr's already talented midfield and i can see them taking a few teams apart this season.

Where did Cowdenbeath get McConalogue and Oneil from Danq? I thought the loss of Buchanan to Partick made them relegation candidates to me.

Anyhow im gonna start getting read up again as i think its getting a bit too close to kick off for my likings. Anyone else got any preseaon thoughts or info?

McConalogue Partick and Oneil Gretna , regards to Livi dont know much anout the foreign players , think Snodgrass returns after loan spell at Stirling will be better still young 45 pts last season should beat that poss top5 , Raith still like big support to ,wonder if that kid they had from Rangers on loan is still there he done them a turn last season, their second half of the season makes them appeal and did not concede many , good experiance in Todd and Andrews cant see them out first 3

Re: Scottish 1-2-3 Close Season News & Link Dump

I just had high hopes for Livi last season Danq and i know they had injuries for most of the season but really bar the odd half a game v Gretna or Sj Johnstone i dont think they put in a god performance all season. They would have to have some major changes for me to consider them at the mo. Aye your Raith is starting to sound steady to me Danq. I thought Andrews had left truth be told. Actuially i better get round the club sites and catch up a bit. ill post in anything of interest
