Warnock For City?

With Neil Warnock walking out of Sheff Utd today does anyone else think he would be great at Man City?. I think the fans would love him and with a club with a better rep like city i really think that he could turn it around, all he would need is the right backing from the chairman and i think i could make city a real force in the prem.

Any reason behind that or just "no"?

Re: Warnock For City?

i hope ure taking the piss Aces.

I've allready mentioned in talk sports about my views on this but it does not make sense and the same go's for Jewell to replace Pearce with managers that have a worse record than himself.

I like Warnock but the prem has moved on since managers of his type were successfull in the Premiership, I have no doubt that City will go continental this time around..

Re: Warnock For City?

Actually, maybe not just no. Apart from the fact that the bloke belongs in a fuckin circus, people have their strengths and their weaknesses. Warnock's strength is taking shit teams and getting them promoted.

Granted, he usually gets them relegated again but that's beside the point. That's what he's good at. He also does cup runs. Picking up a mediocre Premiership team like City and moving them on to the next level (i.e. UEFA cup spot) is not his bag.

Enough of these tyred old jokes. This tread....sorry, thread.... is about Warnock. A team like Wigan would suit him. Low aspirations with a team to match them. Plucky underdog mentality. Success being managing to avoid the drop year after year. Perfect.

I dont see a great deal of difference between Wornock and Harry at pompey, Harry may be better a getting the best out of players who have been looked over, but i feel they have the same style and look what he has done with pompey.

Re: Warnock For City?

I actually feel a team like Leeds would suit him down to the ground and stand him in good stead for a decent run in the Prem with resources if he could get them there, same too with Jewell as he still lives in Yorkshire and i have a sneaky feeling once things settle and Leeds get sorted he may land that job.

Harrys big test will come next yr as he's done a bit of an Alladyce on Pompey with a few experienced players, he's not really built for the future but done a make over on Portsmouth, there biggest problem will be replacing James who will never repeat his record breaking stint of this season at his age.

If he can do the same as he did at West Ham and i don't mean relegation but bring through a similar set of youth team players like he did there i'll be very surprised.

But saying that i could live with Rednapp as he's got a good footballing brain whereas Warnock like ODM has mentioned is a bit of a clogger and more suited to the lower leagues.

Re: Warnock For City?

Pompey will just get better and better trust me. As a pompey fan myself things just keep getting better, we have a chairman that will spend the money when harry needs him to and we have some really great players at the club. Niko Kranjcar is gonna be a world class player in a few years, how matty taylor hasn't got in an england friendly squad is beyond me and gary o'neil is just fantastic. i have to admitt that harry hasn't really planned for the future as yet but what he has done is set us up as a good tophalf prem team and another thing how david james is not one of the 3 best english keepers is also a joke!!!

Re: Warnock For City?

Its no Joke as he is a liability Aces, he had the makings to be one of the worlds best but his mistakes especially under pressure and in vital matches have let him down all of his playing career to date and that wont change now at his age.

He did a great job for us also at City but he's had his chances at the top and never took them, he won't get them again at his age.

As i said I like Rednapp allthough he tried to nick half the City team when he went to pompey but his real test will come next yr on trying to build on the success of this yr which i have reservations about as his main players are just getting over the hill.

He brought in a lot of experience at an age where they are just going over the hill so next season will be interesting, I hope it works out for you m8 and the youngsters gained a lot of knowledge from playing alonside them otherwise you'll need a hell of a lot more money to compete at the same level without a good youth program or be very lucky to become another Bolton.

Re: Warnock For City?

Looks like Distin is also on his way Aces's, by the time the new season starts you'll have to change your name to City Vets.

It will be a good choice if Harry bags him as he has experience and pace and should slot in nicely along side Campbell.
His only downfall is that he is prone to mistakes as his passing at times is a joke, down to laziness more than anything but it'll cost you a couple of games a season.

Re: Warnock For City?

I think Distin for no money has got to be good bussiness, i mean city wanted £5 million for him last year and with Hreidarsson and Sulley Muntari looking like joining soon along with talk of Mark Viduka being looked at i think harrys off to a good start this window the only thing im worried about at the moment is us looking at titus bramble who i think has been shocking at newcastle nothing near his early promise, but then i guess Harry is the master at getting the best out of players that most people have writen off.
