Winrews Book Club

Just thought i would try something different.
Book of the week, reviews of stuff i would recommend.
Best place to buy books.

Why read i hear you ask ?
Well its certainly good for keeping your brain active, its also cheap ( 6 quid or under ) gets you plenty of entertainment in my opinion.

How much does it cost to watch a footie match ( for 90 minutes entertainment )
I read about 2 / 3 books a week, having a job like i have it helps the shift go in better.

Right....best places to buy books.
Supermarkets are great although they have a limited choice, its mainly the most popular stuff, although we arent gonna be snobbish about any books, everybody has different tastes.

Tesco ........ most books are 3.73.
Amazon.co.uk ...... Excellent for books you can also buy used books at a decent discount.
Bol.com ....... Good discounts on new books.

Although if you are on a tight budget, you could always try your local library

Librarys are free after all.....our local library even does DVD,s , Games , and you can even get a cup of coffee, they are very easy to join all you need is proof of your address.

Right thats enough rambling from me,we will have the first book review tonight ( what was that....i cant wait )

Its time for a bit of culture, put down your mouse, discard your remote control and pick a book up.....it wont hurt honest.

Feel free to add any reviews of books you have read I would prefer a few sentences about it rather than .... " Just read Harry Potter it wuz dead good "

Re: Coming Soon

Right then.

First book is " Live Bait "
Author .... PJ Tracy

Boring Fact .... well the author is actually two people.
(P. J. Lambrecht and Traci Lambrecht) are mother and daughter.

Whats it all about ?

Spring has come to Minneapolis, bringing with it an unseasonable heat wave…and a chilling end to the longest murder-free stretch the local homicide detectives have seen in years. Two old men died the same night. One was tied to train tracks and left to die. The other was shot in the head beside a greenhouse at the nursery he owned, his body left out in rain that washed the crime scene clean. Other than the fact that they lived in the same neighborhood, the victims had little in common. The first victim was an overweight watch repairman -- an apparent nobody whose elaborately engineered death seems to be the most remarkable thing about him. The second victim was not only well known; the elderly concentration camp survivor turned nursery owner seems to have been loved and admired by everyone -- except his only surviving child, a personal-injury attorney with a sleazy reputation. With such different means and styles of death, the police hesitate to connect the crimes. But both are undeniably high-profile cases that need to be closed quickly and cleanly, especially after two more elderly victims are added to the neighborhood death toll.

As detectives struggle to make sense of elusive and contradictory evidence, input from the computerized detective program that's the latest brainchild of the innovative software design company known as Monkeewrench -- and unexpected intelligence from Interpol -- expand their investigations in some remarkable directions…and the price of justice soars to unexpected heights.

Where to buy it ?

Tescos priced 3.73.

Is it any good i hear you all ask, well it sets off at a cracking pace right from the first few pages, some good banter ( dark humour ) between the detectives involved with the cases, actually as crime novels go i think its certainly a good read keeps you guessing right up till the end.
Its quite gruesome but not to over the top,its easy to read as it doesnt get to complicated ( although its not to easy to work out the end ).
I thought i would start with something thats easy to get hold of as the first review before we move into books that have been out a while.

Re: Coming Soon

What is it you work as Winrew?

I do nothing when am on night shift so maybe getting some books could do me good. Most the time i just get the pull out bed and sleep all my shift though.

Last book i read was Animal Farm back in my final school year for my discurrsive essay. Top book. Remember reading Brighton rock/pier or something along those lines. Another enjoyable read! Any recommendations?
