Big Brother 9 - The most unpopular ever
Big Brother's viewing figures down - Yahoo! News UK
The latest instalment of the flagship Channel 4 show, which comes to an end on Friday night, has been seen by an average of 3.2 million viewers, compared with 3.5 million last year. It has attracted a 15.8% share of TV viewers, compared with 17% in 2007 for the series won by 20-year-old data entry clerk Brian Belo. Previous years have seen housemates such as "Nasty" Nick, Jade Goody and Portuguese transsexual Nadia Almada capture the public's imagination. The Big Brother slide has occurred since the high of 2002, when 5.8 million watched Goody state that "East Angular" was abroad. Viewing figures have plummeted since the launch night of this year's reality show in June, which attracted 5.3 million viewers and a 25% share. Big Brother and E4 editor David Williams defended the series, saying: "Big Brother is unique in that each year the format can deliver something new for viewers. "For a ninth series we've had never-been-seen-before characters who have produced their own iconic Big Brother moments, including some of the most unexpected relationships and friendships ever, which, for Big Brother fans, results in a vintage year of viewing. "We look forward to celebrating 10 years of Big Brother next year." So after a blind bloke and an albino cock end, what "never been seen before characters" do they have lined up for next year. A wheelchair bound person? A guy in a coma? Someone with one leg? Biggest pile of wank on TV. |

Re: Big Brother 9 - The most unpopular ever
I aint arguing with that, but the fact of the matter is that this, along with many other reality shows often have the best betting opportunities due to the fact that bookies can easily misprice something on the tv..
Profits are made every year on Big Brother and the like as you will see if you can be arsed to trail though the threads in these specials forums, and to be honest bagging a 33/1 winner, a 10/1 winner, a 12/1 winner (which happens quite often on here) is much more pleasurable than following some cock tipping Man Utd to win at 1/5.. |

Re: Big Brother 9 - The most unpopular ever
That's a bit harsh on ODM trick
![]() Decent betting market this year I think - the usual meddling from the producers was absent which made for inflated prices everywhere as punters expected twists that never came. As a show, it's dying on its feet a bit. The £100,000 doesn't mean anything any more - people know they can engineer a romance and make far more than that from magazine deals, and this year had a lot of people asking to be nominated, just to have an extra week of exposure. They'e got a contract for 2 more years but with pretty bad viewing figures this year I think they'll need to change things up to revive the franchise...£1m prize and only running for around 8 weeks...its dragged on far too long this year. |

Re: Big Brother 9 - The most unpopular ever
Hard to comment on it , ive caught about 30 minutes in total , i think they should be given weapons to liven it up , with a amnesty if they kill one of them..
Maybe im getting older , but the novelty has worn off for me , its run its course , i used to hear the younger lads cracking about it at work , no bugger seems to mention this season.. The big money is made after they leave , 100 / 200 K , then back off to obscurity.. |
