Re: Nascar Thread.

Update on the Last 3 Races. Next race Sun 27th Talladega (where I have a strong fancy)

Phoenix
*** Jimmie Johnson (11/2 with BSQ). Has dominated practice, and appears to be the man to beat. Barring accidents, feel that he is a penalty kick to at least finish top 4. His record in event's that run into changing conditions (this will start in daylight and end in the cooling Desert night), is 2nd to none.

** Greg Biffle (16/1 general)
* Carl Edwards - hopefully when others go up they will be better then 6/1 - Would only take 7/1 or better
(JJ won Edwards 4th)

Texas
3*** Carl Edwards (6/1 or better)
2** Kyle Busch (8/1 or better)
1* Jeff Burton (20/1 or better)
(Edwards won Busch 3rd)

Martinsville
*** Denny Hamlin
** Dale Earnhardt Jr
* Ryan Newman
(Hamlin won)

Re: Nascar Thread.

Aaron's 499

Will not bore you with the spiel on the race, but just to say the best car did not win the Daytona 500, which has the same characteristics as this weekends track. Therefore I am putting up the following

3*** Tony Stewart 7/1 or better (Smoke will finally win one at Talladega)
2*** Kyle Busch 7/1 or better
1* Kurt Busch 16/1 or better

Re: Nascar Thread.

Hi Buddy

Not a great lover of Motor Sport as a whole (US Football is my main love), but was given Nascar 7 years ago (and told not to lose to much, as it was seen as a poison chalice). Took me a couple of years to get to grips with it, but now have a very solid understanding of the sport. Have made a decent profit for the firm and myself over the past 3 years

Re: Nascar Thread.

Hi kosar, welcome, ive taken your selection of Tony Stewart @6/1 Partybets

I have'nt got a clue what im saying as I dont know a thing about the sport,I do understand that it is very much strategic and not just fastest car and best driver.

I would like to throw-in Carl Edwards @ 20's bet365
whos averging 11.5 in place finishes,and has 3 wins 4 top 5's
this season also hes up in the power rankings to 2nd so is in good form and does have a top 5 finish in this event. He does drive a Ford which might be a slight negative as Chevrolt have a tremendous record of 17 out of 18 races in this event.

Re: Nascar Thread.

Hi Guys. Firstly FC although I have great respect for Carl Edwards, I do not feel this track will suit. The Fords of Roush have concentrated on getting the best set ups for the tracks where most races are run during the season. Have not done the research into the Plate events of Talledega and Daytona.
Stonecold. Yes JJ is one of the best around and his team have dominated the Plate events over the past few years. No reason he along with Jeff Gordon and especially Dale Earnhardt, are not in the mix this weekend. However after watching Daytona I was left with the impression the best cars did not win that day, and they belonged to the Toyota's of Gibbs. Feel that Stewart, Busch and Hamlin were mugged with the 2 lap dash at the end, with stewart especially the victim of both a bad decision (dropped to the bottom of the track and left the door open for the bump draft of the Penske cars) and a lack of help from his team mate Kyle Busch who failed to get behind him quick enough to help him. If in the same position this weekend, this will not happen again. Blue Sq offer 7/1 for both Stewart and ky Busch. Worth taking imo

Re: Nascar Thread.

Qualifying and Practice is over and it is fairly obvious that the Gibbs Toyota's are the class of the field. Stewart, Ky Busch and Denny Hamlin are in the Top 7 on the grid (and only have drivers who had to go without Race set up to qualify around them). Means they will have to make a quick Pit stop to get the cars into race Set up (Cars are now impounded)
I have Stewart at 7/2 on my tissue so the 11/2 looks good.
Would also pass on a word for Brian Vickers (150/1 SJ), who won here 2 years ago (I took the 40/1 that night). He should go well and SJ are betting 1st 5

Well Smoke went up in smoke. Had the best car, but as always at these Superspeedways, luck was not on his side. Blew a tyre while leading and dropped to the back of the field, and then when looking good and charging through the field was caught in a wreck, that ended his day. Kyle Busch however saved the day as my no2 star pick, charged to victory. My late info on Brian Vickers (150/1 SJ 1st 5) payed off as he finished in the money.

On to Richmond this week, where I have my eye on someone who hopefully should be around the 20/1 mark

Thanks Buddy. I am hoping a few of you took the advice to back Brian Vickers as well. 150/1 was huge with SJ (1st 5), especially taking into account his good runs here in the past (albeit in a Chevy). However with Gibbs racing now moved over to Toyota, he has passed on loads of valuable info to the other teams, so all the Toyota's should be more competitive this year.

Re: Nascar Thread.

Will most likely wait until I see Friday's practice before making my final decisions, but would suggest a little bet on Jeff Burton @ 25/1 (1st 5) with Stans each way
