Re: US Open Cup - from Midnight tonight
Portland Timbers v Seattle Sounders
There's an intense rivalry between these two teams due to their close proximity and their years spent playing each other in USL-1. Now Seattle are in the MLS, but that rivalry is as fierce as ever.
Portland come into the game in fine form, coming off the back of 5-1 and 4-0 home wins in the league. They've got an almost fully-fit squad and should be cheered on by a packed home crowd.
Seattle come into the game off the back of a 3-0 home win overColorado, but they've been pretty average recently, especially away from home. They're missing a couple of players who have been called up to the Gold Cup (Brad Evans and Tyrone Marshall), Osvaldo Alonso is injured while Steve Zakuani is doubtful. Coach Sigi Schmid has used a lot of backup players up to this point of the competition and is likely to do so again.
Portland Timbers @ 3.00 (Stryyke) - 3 points
