Buddy Holly rang a bell with me, Kop. Not the singer! I was on it to place at Goodwood 30th May (1m2f sft) and it did quite well, finishing 2nd. My expert analysis tells me it likes it soft. Ooerrr. Or softish. Not sure that's a proper term. Here's the wee snippet from that race anyway:

Buddy Holly came here on a hat-trick, but he was 6lb higher than when scoring at Bath last time and taking on some less exposed rivals. Up there all the way, he ran another big race, but simply met one too good for him at the weights.

Followed up with a win at Sandown, 13th June (1m2f Gd):

Another tough looking handicap, with ten of the 17 rated within 5lb of those towards the top. BUDDY HOLLY had been going great guns on softer ground earlier in the year and he had no problems with the much faster conditions here. He also looked to have no problems with the big field and, not for the first time, relished a fight.

May as well add the last one too, 5th July Sandown (1m 2f GF):

The ground looked a problem too for Buddy Holly, who had climbed rapidly up the ratings in the course of three good handicap wins, all of them on good ground or softer. He never looked like getting involved but can be forgiven.
