Re: The Oscars 2008 and other film awards

The Screen Actors Guild awards have been given out and Daniel Day-Lewis, Julie Christie, Javier Bardem and Ruby Dee win individual honours with No Country for Old Men winning Ensemble.

I think three out of the four acting winners look locked on to win for Oscars. I'm not so sure of Ruby Dee though but she is a veteran and she is the oldest nominee (older than Hal Halbrook by a few months) at this year's Oscars.

No Country for Old Men looks locked and loaded. I jus=t wish I bet on 'exactly five' as NCfOM looks likely to get Picture, Director, Supporting Actor, Adapted Screenplay and Editing but will lose Cinematography, Sound Editing and Sound Mixing.

The Coen brothers drop like a stone to 2/1 ON and worse generally. Lord knows what odds Ruby Dee will be in the afternoon when the bookies readjust their odds but Stan James/Bet Direct have her at 12/1!

Stan James/Bet Direct are the only ones who are keeping their stalls open which is remarkable considering that most other bookies have been quick to shut their doors over the years when the SAG awards are being dished out.

I'm gonna have a small punt of £16.50 on that 12/1 at Stan James just because the odds are so great.
