The Oscars 2008 and other film awards

Today's Bettingzone Market News:

1435: Daniel Day-Lewis is the hottest favourite in Paddy Power’s Oscars betting following today’s nominations.

Having already won the Golden Globe British-born Lewis is just 2/9 to win the Oscar for Best Actor for his role in ‘There Will Be Blood’.

However in the most star-studded of awards, Day-Lewis faces competition from Johnny Depp (6/1), George Clooney (8/1) and Tommy Lee Jones (25/1) for the prized statue.

Elsewhere No Country For Old Men is the evens favourite for Best Film with Brit film Atonement at 5/2.

Julie Christie is 1/3 for Best Actress and Cate Blanchett, 12/1 for Best Actress and 5/4 favourite for Best Supporting Actress, is 50/1 to land an unprecedented double.

==========

There's the BAFTAs and um, the Razzies as well to mull over. I've got a few bets lined up and I won't just stick 'em on my 'Kitchen Sink' thread like last year.

Sportingbet have a 'Most Oscars won by a single film' market:

'Less than 5' 6/5, Exactly 5 '9/4', 'Exactly 6 or 7' 7/2 and More than 7' 6/1.

I put £100 at 11/10 on 'Less than 5' and then it moved to 6/5 whilst all the other prices stayed the same....I must have got the 'special price'.

It's a crap bet come to think of it. I've pegged No Country for Old Men to win at least Picture, Director, Supporting Actor, Adapted Screenplay and Editing as well.
