Re: Kop in League 2

Bury v Shrewsbury 5/4, 9/4, 9/4

Current league form

Bury 11th, 15Pts, -1Gd, wwDWd
Shrews’ 13th, 14pts, -1Gd, LlLLd

You can see why the bookies have priced this game up as they have, Bury unbeaten in 5 with 11 pts from a possible 15 and Shrewsbury no win in 5 and just the 1 point, however closer inspection of results points me to a value bet on Shrewsbury here. It’s about the opposition they’ve played in those games that makes the 9/4 away look bigger than it should be.

Bury last 5

(19th)Notts County 1-3 Bury
(15th)Rochdale 1-2 Bury
Bury 1-1 Lincoln City(23rd)
Bury 2-1 Accrington Stanley(12th)
(18th)Dag & Red 1-1 Bury

Shrewsbury last 5

Shrewsbury 2-3 Chesterfield(3rd)
(5th)Chester 3-1 Shrewsbury
Shrewsbury 0-2 Peterborough(6th)
Shrewsbury 3-4 Rochdale(15th)
(8th)Wycombe 1-1 Shrewsbury

It’s fair to say Shrews’ have been shipping them in a bit of late but they are trying to address that according to the BBC….

Shrewsbury Town captain Stewart Drummond thinks his side's recent poor run of form is down to their defence.
Speaking after their 3-2 loss at home to Chesterfield he said: "We've defended poorly again today with one or two individual errors.
"We're letting teams score too easily against us which is something we weren't doing before, when we were picking up points."
He told the club's website: "We've got to stay together and get through this."

Bury deserve credit for their recent form but they have failed to keep a clean sheet in those five games against opposition that looked relatively weak.

Hereford v MK Dons 15/8, 9/4, 6/4

I’m not betting here but for anybody that’s considering it I’ll just add a couple of points as all the prices look generous
The chances on Hereford getting anything imo really depends on whether our central defender has recovered from a serious head injury he picked up in last Friday nights game at Chester. He’s a bit of a general at the back for us, quite solid and if he is missing then it’s worth mentioning that replacement McCombe has hardly kicked a ball for us this season and partner Mclenchan has not featured that many times either.
On the positive side if you believe in head to heads then (off the top of my head) we beat these home and away last season, definitely away anyway. It should be a cracker and you’d expext goals with these two teams no matter who’s playing and who’s not.
A definite for any +1 goals or more backers.

Of the others Peterborough looked a good bet but the fact that Lincoln have just sacked their manager could help them raise their game a bit so I’ve left them out and I was considering Mansfield also but visitors Notts County have just sacked their manager too.
I’ve a feeling Brentford might upset the odds @ around 5/2 at Rochdale and Barnet look a bit overpriced at Wrexham but I’ll leave that to those more in the know this week, I think they can quickly get back to winning again there though.
Darlington can get Stuart McCall the sack this weekend but the biggest surprise could come at Wycombe, I don’t know why but I fancy Grimsby to cause an upset here @ 4/1.
Chester are another team in form with a good record away from home and they can be considered @ 9/5 too.

All in all though I’m just going to pin my hopes on the Shrewsbury here this weekend, they really can’t afford to lose a fifth game on the trot if they are to be play off contenders come the end of the season, I’m quietly confident they can come away with at least a point, it’s going to damage my month if they don’t.

(026) Shrewsbury 4.00 @ 9/4 and 8.00 DNB @ 6/5 Paddy P’s + Blue Sq
