Re: Trying to learn SH cash games..
I don't have a problem with the way you played either hand cains.
Hand 1 - you can't give him a free card there IMO so your turn bet is fine - there are so many draws there aren't many cards which aren't gonna scare you on the river, and if he bets you face a real decision, and not an easy one. You have to bet strong IMO - if you get check raised then you can probably chuck it(not cheaply mind, but still), if he calls whilst drawing then you are giving him poor odds for it, and if he folds as he did and which is most likely to happen, you pick up a decent pot. If you check, then you are only ever going to pick up the same size pot, but your chances of doing so are much smaller.
Hand 2 - your bet is ok - i'll usually bet suited flops if heads up in a pot, because as scary as it looks to you, a suited flop + bet looks even scarier to an opponent and you'll get a fold from him most of the time there. Maybe less so with a Q and K there in a raised pot, but taking a shot there is legitimate IMO. Having raised it preflop if you check then you are as good as giving it up anyway.
After he calls then I think you are right to leave it at that...his final bet looks priced to tempt a call, probably from a strong flush made on the turn, so again I don't see a fault there.
So yeah, overall both hands look ok to me, but thats just my opinion.
