Re: Some Winter Reading

Quality work CJ. Thanks.

I'll get hold of the zombie one and the Bulgarian lot then.

I must say I was thinking about a "Horror film" thread only today as I grew uo on King and Herbert. I recently watched "Shawshank" again and it puzzles me how films like that and "The Shining" are classics when he has written some write crap like "The Langoliers". I swerve him now these days but "The Stand" is still one of my favourite books.

I decided to get stuck into some "Classics" and move up from the trash I always read. Well, I like trash. Though if anybody hasn't got hold of Cormac McCarthy's border trilogy I'd thoroughly recommend it as that's definitely a modern-day classic. Or classics. Still dunno about "Blood Meridian" though as the ending left me a bit dazed and confused..

Anyway, just finished "The Great Gatsby" which I really enjoyed. Also Hemmingway's "Farewell to arms", but that was too lovey-dovey for me. I should've known by the title.

I've just started Joseph Conrad's "Nostromo" and I'm really getting into it. Hope it doesn't let m down
